As
you may have noticed I didn't update this page for a while. I'm afraid it will
stay this way, but I'll leave this for reference and there's just one more item I
have to add. It's a great gift from my friend Pete and ElvisCharity.com,
the TTWII-gift set you can buy there to support a lot of charities. And believe
me, especially the poster is marvelous!
Two new BMG releases in one week:

In my opinion it doesn't make sense to complain about having most of the tracks already. It might be true, but it is clear that BMG can't keep that in mind. At least we never got them in this quality, and only "Too Much Monkey Business" alone is already worth buying it for. |

What can I say about this one? The long awaited for CD-set. Finally a complete 1970 show, and a great one! Too many highlights to name, but if I have to name two, I would say the 2nd and 3rd CD :-). Without kidding, Words, Bridge over Troubled Water of "The Concert"-CD and "Stranger in the Crowd" live are my personal favourites on this set. The last has probably the honour of "most often played Elvis track within one week". |

Well, I did it again. Bought those CD's filled with songs I had a zillion times. Well, what can I say? First of all it is a shame how the CD's are printed. Of course you buy them for the music, but what BMG did on these covers... and I'm not even talking about the change of cover for Moody Blue. YUCK! Soundquality on Country and Promised Land is improved for sure, Moody Blue was a little disappointing, but It's Easy for You sounds less worse than in the past.

Ha! another collection. Well a good one, and it is a great gesture towards a good friend of mine to use the picture of his logo on the CD. As stated, just a collection for the collection, very sloppy as usual. The coverart certainly doesn't work on this picture like it did on the other one. Also some irritating printing on the fold-out, e.g.: i-nfluenced, strange place to put a linebreak. Not much respect for the Artist of the Century.... |

It isn't my favourite Elvis. I prefer him when he was healthy and was enjoying recording. But it is Elvis and even in this weak form he's still much better than most other artists. And please don't try to discuss this with me (again). It is my opinion, and it won't change :-). Well... let me put it this way... it was less worse than I expected and a great soundquality (too great sometimes ;-))

Elvis In Holland
Back to the concert! The experience was great, as expected. Last year in Belgium I tasted it, and hopefully I will again in the future. On the first gig (March 8) the audience was a little dull, but the audience on March 9 made up for that. What a great atmosphere!!! Luckily a friend of mine (thanks Richard!) made a video tape of the complete show, and it is great to redo it over and over again!! The quality is pretty good, nice ceiling they have in Ahoy! :-) Just kidding, a small part during CC Rider the camera was pointed in a strange direction, but after Richard found the right position and sat more steady the images got pretty clear and stable. The sound is more than fair. I have the Oberhausen-show from last year from the same source, and this is certainly much better.
After some very busy weeks with The Concert in Rotterdam (twice), the problems my pal Willem has, extremely busy on the job, rebuilding the house etc. etc. I finally have some time for my pages again! Well what did I get lately? Uhhh, let's see CD's not much, for obvious reasons, o yeah, of course a very fine import release:

What can I say about this CD on the new Kwimper-label? Keep Following That Dream doesn't contain Elvis' strongest music. In fact, some of his weaker material is on it. Still it is very pleasant to listen too. Superb soundquality and weak or not, the songs are very catchy and with Angel we have a pretty underrated beautiful ballad. The complete sessions are divided in parts, which is a pity from one point of view, but it makes it probably better listenable. All takes from one song in a row might be a little too much (thou Elvis never needed very many takes on these ones). |
Had another good week! The good old Canadian Tribute arrived today! It is the original album with additional tracks, nothing really new, but hey, it fits nicely in the collection! BMG Nederland was so nice to send me the Dutch edition of The Concert 2000 (thanks a million times, Tibor!) and.... Such a Night!

What can I say about
this one? On several place on the Net I saw already comparisons between
these outtakes and the originals. Of course I knew a lot of them from
former, not so legal, releases. But the quality... I really wonder how
they do it. I thought the reached the limit last year with Artist of the
Century (among others), but it really seems like they improved again. The
sound is so clear, amazing!
I really love the 1960 stuff, the other things are great too by the way. It is already one of my favourites: well balanced and the King (almost) at his best, certainly regarding voice. |
Another great addition to my collection is Elvis - South American Style. Last week I saw on ElvisNews.com that it was on its way (at least... I hoped so :-)). And yes, it was. They didn't say too much about the book: great covers, pictures and interesting information! And of course the promo is nice too!

This week was a
friendly one for me: friend Erik from Norway sent me this great promo,
2000x thanks! And another friend, Sandi, send me the two TV-Guides,
with the Entertainer of the Century-article, also 2000 for you
Sandi!
Went to a kind of exhibition for CDs, records and films. Loads of official vinyl available, but way to expensive for me (at least the interesting things), not many interesting CDs, but I got the PAL version of the first part of the "He Touched Me" - special. Nice documentary, long time ago a positive one about Elvis like this one was made.... including some nice footage, a great soundquality. So I guess it is a kind of a must. |
